01Who We Are
A Family Club
Family run, with an inclusive, community focus, LRHC is a place for players of all ages and abilities; whether you're six years old and learning to skate, 16 and representing your country on the European stage, or 75 and still living life in the fast lane, LRHC has a place for you.
Our club is one of the biggest in the country, with over 65 registered players. We have teams entered in every league: U11, U13, U11/13 Female, U15, U17, U15/17 Female, U19, EC3, EC2, EC1, and Premier League. We play predominantly in Eastern Counties leagues, across Hertfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Norfolk and Peterborough. We play in the Premier League, taking part in matches all across the country, take part in national championships and even play internationally in Europe.
Three of our players currently play professionally abroad, and seven represent their international team.
Our training sessions are led by our two head coaches, Nigel and Andrew Allen — both former England Internationals with more than 35 years' experience between the bench and the rink, and both still playing competitive roller hockey today. Nigel and Andrew have a team of 16 qualified coaches behind them, 25 referees and 34 accredited timekeepers. All coaches, referees and timekeepers are volunteers, and all of them are players, former players or parents who love this fast-paced, close-knit sport.
Roughly a third of our playing membership is female — a statistic our club is immensely proud of, as we have worked hard to champion female players and female roller hockey in recent years. The 2025/26 season saw us launch the country's first roller hockey partnership with WUKA, and play an instrumental role in establishing the first single-sex female leagues for our younger female players. LRHC is incredibly proud to have been the only club in the country able to field female teams in both the U11/13 and U15/17 female leagues without having to loan or transfer players from other clubs — proof that female roller hockey is thriving at Letchworth.

03The Coaches
35 Years of Experience
Our coaching team is made up of players and parents, delivered to the highest standard that can be achieved by an amateur sports club. Four of our coaches are former England Internationals, and Nigel Allen — one of our head coaches — is a former England International coach, who has taken the most talented young players from across the country to represent England Roller Hockey at the very highest level. We have coaches who regularly coach for the England Academy coaching team, which delivers coaching to young players from across the country at monthly training sessions, domestic Christmas and summer camps, and intensive training camps in Portugal. We also have a brilliant team of young assistant coaches — youth coaches who help our youngest players develop their skills while working towards their Duke of Edinburgh Awards and a love of volunteering.
Nigel Allen
Nigel has coached at the club for more than twenty years, having played for over thirty-five. A Level 5 qualified coach, he previously served as a Regional Development Officer and coached England teams internationally, and continues to help develop players at Letchworth today.
Andrew Allen
Andrew is coaching, playing EC1 and wears the hats of Head Coach and Chairman of the Letchworth Rink/Roller Hockey Club and still loving every minute of it.

06Train With Us
Two Nights a Week
We have training sessions two nights a week, organised by team and age or ability. We are always looking for new members, so if you've played roller hockey before, please get in touch.

Roller hockey is a fast-paced, skilled sport, and the majority of players in competitive roller hockey have been playing since they were nine years old or younger. If you're older than nine and interested in playing, our Head Coaches will need to assess your skating skills first, to make sure you're placed with players training at an appropriate level — find out how to join.
Basic skating skills required: crossovers, turns (left and right), backwards skating and hockey/skid stops.
