Four Decades of History

Letchworth Rink Hockey Club was founded in 1984 by two Letchworth boys, Nigel Allen and Clifton Symmons. They played at North Herts Leisure Centre — and the club still trains there to this day. It has always been family-orientated, run by parents for their children.

At its peak the club was the biggest roller hockey club in the country, with more than forty-five registered players entered in every league it ran at the time — Under 11, Under 13, Under 15, Under 17, Senior and Ladies.

Coaching legacy

Coaching at the club has always been delivered to as professional a standard as an amateur sport allows. Nigel and Andrew Allen, the club's two head coaches, have played for more than thirty-five years and coached for more than twenty. Nigel previously served as a Regional Development Officer and coached England teams internationally, experience he now brings back to developing players at Letchworth. Meet today's coaching team →

Beyond the rink

A large number of members play in regional tournaments in places like Ely, Soham and Peterborough — a chance for children to meet and compete against others outside their usual circle. Competitive on the rink, but friendships are easily made.

Still growing
